Rapid 3G Pitch Repair for Havant RFC

A time-sensitive repair by Technical Surfaces ensured that Havant Rugby Football Club’s weekend fixture could go ahead.

Havant Rugby Football Club is a well-established rugby club with a full-size 3G artificial pitch that was installed as part of the RFU Rugby 365 framework. The surface is in high demand, facilitating regular training and competitive fixtures.

Technical Surfaces has proudly supported the Rugby 365 project since 2016, delivering specialist maintenance to their portfolio of pitches at rugby clubs across the UK. Midweek, Havant RFC reported unexpected damage to their 3G surface. With a key fixture scheduled that weekend, the club faced the real possibility of cancelling the game if the issue could not be resolved in time.

Demonstrating flexibility and commitment, our team quickly restructured schedules to prioritise the repair.

Attending site on the Friday, the damaged section of turf was cut away and new carpet installed using seaming tape and specialist adhesive, before redressing with specialist sand and SBR rubber infill in line with the carpet specification.

The repair was completed ahead of the weekend fixture, ensuring the pitch was safe, compliant, and fully playable.

Most importantly, the match was able to go ahead as planned, avoiding disruption for players, staff, and supporters. The repaired area will remain durable and fit for purpose for many years to come.
