Water based surfaces

Servicing water based pitches

Specialist maintenance keeps water-based pitches performing consistently safely and at elite competition standards.

Routine brushing cleaning and irrigation management preserves fibre integrity removes debris prevents matting and ensures optimal ball speed control player safety and world-class surface performance at top-tier hockey venues.

Maintenance and Care

Although water-based pitches don’t require infill management, they still demand specialist care to maintain their performance.

Regular brushing prevents the pile matting together and manages the wear rates. Periodic water-based cleaning helps to remove algae, debris and contamination that can build up in the carpet, regulating the surface performance and drainage. With the right maintenance regime, these surfaces deliver world-class standards.

Best Suited Sports
  • Hockey (elite, national, and international level)
  • Light multi-sport use where appropriate (e.g. hockey training)

The water based system

The water-based system uses a dense, tightly woven synthetic carpet with no sand or rubber infill, relying instead on a controlled layer of water to create a fast, low-friction playing surface.

This design supports exceptional ball glide, precision control and consistent traction, qualities essential for high-level hockey.

Built on a stable, free-draining base and maintained through careful brushing, cleaning and water management, water-based systems deliver the elite performance demanded by national and international venues.
