// We join one of the UK's fastest growing sports facility companies
In Words
The existing Technical Surfaces business is a strong one, with staff who have years of knowledge and experience behind them to assist us in making the company even better. I believe strongly that both maintenance businesses complement each other greatly and I look forward to the challenge of taking the company forward.

Sportex Group, the Scottish specialist sports surfacing contractor, has announced the acquisition of synthetic sports pitch maintenance specialists Technical Surfaces Ltd.
Sportex Group is one of the UK’s fastest growing sports facility companies, specialising in the construction, maintenance and refurbishment of artificial sports surfaces. Formerly known as Ecosse Sports, Sportex Group has successfully delivered first class facilities across a range of sporting disciplines including football, rugby, hockey, athletics, tennis and multi-use participation.
Maintaining Standards
Our core values and beliefs, reflected in our commitment to Maintaining Standards, have sustained Technical Surfaces for the past 22 years. This same dedication is central to Sportex Group, which enjoys an established reputation throughout Scotland for its quality focus, attentive customer service and a comprehensive maintenance and aftercare division.
Jamie Blamire, managing director of Sportex Group, said:
We are delighted to welcome Technical Surfaces to the Sportex family. Even before our initial discussions with Jon, we knew of Technical Surfaces’ reputation and capabilities. The existing Technical Surfaces business is a strong one, with staff who have years of knowledge and experience behind them to assist us in making the company even better. I believe strongly that both maintenance businesses complement each other greatly and I look forward to the challenge of taking the company forward. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jon for working with us over the past months and also highlight the admiration and respect we have for Jon and Greg and the business they have built over the last 22 years.
360° Turf Lifecycle
The acquisition of Technical Surfaces Ltd, combined with Sportex Group’s already-established maintenance division in Scotland, will offer an unrivalled UK-wide maintenance offering, as well as opening up Sportex Group’s unique recycling solution for end-of-life artificial pitches to a wealth of clients across numerous sectors within the sports and leisure industry.
Sportex Group is proud to be the UK’s first sports surfacing contractor to offer recycling to complete the full 360 lifecycle of an artificial sports pitch. In November 2020, they were awarded funding from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, as part of a successful collaborative bid to support R&D into new plastic recycling technology. Sportex Group’s unique recycling process offers customers a greener alternative and helps reduce the carbon footprint involved in sending pitches to landfill.
We are particularly excited to introduce sustainable recycling to our extensive portfolio and provide our customers with the option of an environmentally balanced 360° turf lifecycle.
Investment and innovation
Our message to our customers is that Technical Surfaces remains dedicated to our company ethos, to our colleagues, and above all to providing you with the highest quality of service. Our union with the Sportex Group enables us to expand our infrastructure and invest further in machinery and innovative processes, whilst pledging our commitment to the people we work with, and those we work for.
In previous years we have expanded our services, introduced innovative methods and techniques which are now regarded as the industry standard, and we have worked hard to establish our brand and reputation as the UK’s largest and leading provider of synthetic sports surface maintenance. The Technical Surfaces family has been the driving force in our continued success, and we are all delighted to take the company forward as part of the Sportex Group.
