Inspections & reporting

Our Inspections & Reporting services give you a clear understanding of your surface’s condition, safety, and performance.

Through detailed assessments, expert analysis, and precise measurements, we help you plan effective maintenance and protect long-term play quality.

From routine inspections to performance testing and certification support, we provide the information you need to meet industry standards and ensure your facility stays safe, compliant, and ready for use.

Surface Inspections

Technical Surfaces provides a comprehensive inspection service for all types of synthetic sports surfaces. One of our experienced inspectors will attend site to undertake a full inspection of your surface and its surrounds. Our findings and recommendations are presented in a detailed Sports Facility Condition Report.

During the inspection an assessment is conducted of the playing surface, carpet construction, the entrance and surrounds and any equipment on site, with recommendations submitted for corrective works as required. Detailed observations of the infill are recorded, including the ratio, distribution and any contamination levels.

On 3G surfaces, infill height and free pile height readings are also taken in 77 separate areas across the surface, to produce average results that enable us to determine the ongoing condition of the surface, as well as forecasting the remaining years of life the surface can expect to attain.

Annual Inspections

At the end of each 12-month MatchFit® contract term, one of our experienced inspectors will attend site to undertake a full inspection of your artificial sports surface and its surrounds.

On 3G surfaces, infill height and free pile height readings are also taken in separate areas across the surface, to produce average results that enable us to determine the ongoing condition of the surface, as well as forecasting the remaining years of life the surface can expect to attain.

Annual inspections allow us to determine whether the maintenance programme in place is appropriate for the amount and type of usage taking place on your surface, or to highlight whether any adjustments are required.

Indicative Testing

Our Indicative Pitch Performance Testing service is available for surfaces that require certification to adhere to recognised industry standards set by various sporting governing bodies (FIFA, FA, World Rugby, FIH, TrackMark).

Data is collected to analyse Force Reduction, Vertical Deformation, Rotational Resistance, Infiltration Rate, Ball Roll and Vertical Ball Rebound. We also monitor the Infill Depth, Free Pile Height and Total Pile Height of the carpet fibres. On Rugby surfaces, Head Impact Criteria (HIC) readings are also taken.

We use a traffic-light system to determine whether the readings fall within the performance requirements; are close to the performance boundaries and should be monitored; or fall outside of the performance requirements.

Regular indicative testing also assists us in projecting future maintenance requirements, as well as providing an early indicator of potential deterioration in pitch quality or performance ahead of any official testing

Official Testing

Technical Surfaces can support our contracted customers through the official testing of their surfaces by an accredited testing house.

Once your testing has been booked, our scheduling team will liaise directly with the testing house to ensure that your test takes place well ahead of certification expiring, enabling the smooth renewal of your surface’s accreditations.

Having ensured that a MatchFit® visit takes places in conjunction with the official testing, we will ensure your pitch is in the best possible condition to meet the surface performance requirements.

Should your pitch fail to meet the required standard, we can undertake the corrective works necessary for your pitch to achieve accreditation (additional costs apply).
