Sand-Dressed Surfaces
Servicing sand-dressed pitches
Professional servicing keeps sand-dressed pitches performing safely consistently and reliably year round.
Routine maintenance restores fibre condition, evens sand distribution, maintains drainage and surface traction. This extends the lifespan, ensuring safe playable fast consistent surfaces ideal for hockey and light multi-sport use.
Maintenance and Care
To maintain performance and safety, sand dressed surfaces require regular drag brushing, Power Sweeping and deep cleaning and scarification (Revite® & Scarification).
Over time, the sand can become contaminated with debris, detritus and broken-down carpet pile, reducing drainage and the surface performance. Routine maintenance helps to maintain the fibre condition, the traction underfoot, the sand evenly distributed, and the surface free-draining and safe for play. Periodic deep cleaning and scarification (Revite® & Scarification) also helps extend the lifespan of the pitch and Rejeneration® can be completed when the drainage is compromised and standing water and surface silting is evident.

The Sand-Dressed system
Sand dressed pitches are a type of 2nd Generation (2G) artificial grass system, most commonly used for hockey.
They feature a shorter, denser carpet with a fine layer of sand that sits below the top of the fibres. This design results in the free pile above the sand infill interacting with the player and ball, resulting in a flat consistent finish that promotes true ball roll and fast, consistent play. While hockey is the primary sport, sand dressed surfaces can also support light multi-sport use where required.
